The installation [auto’mobile] designed by ddpstudio is composed of three elements that are inspired by Ferrari sport shapes and by the techniques that were once used to manufacture coachwork. F1+4 Couch The F1 car becomes a suggestive furniture piece: a padded couch covered with red fabric that welcomes many kinds of sitting positions. The tyres can also be used to sit on or a surface to lean on. Wooden bodywork mock-up library In the past the world of Furniture and cars had a great deal in common: coachbuilders and carpenters were two different professions but shared a unique universe of small workshops spread across northern Italy, from Turin to Milan. Car bodies were hand-shaped using wooden bodywork mock-ups made out of ash or elm sections. Manual skills were considered the added value of car companies. Ddp studio got the inspiration to design this soft shape library from the F330 model and used the expertise of what is now disappearing world of skilled craftsman to produce the unique pieces of Italian design. F330 hanging mock-up Scaled bodyworks mock-up made out of red anodized aluminum hanging in a white space, continuously fluctuating due to the movement of the air.
